Kim Kardashian Is ‘Empowered’ to Testify in Paris Robbery Case (Excl)

Kim Kardashian is gearing up to take the stand nearly 10 years after she was robbed in Paris.

Us Weekly can confirm that Kim, 44, is feeling “empowered” as she is set to testify against the suspects who allegedly robbed her at gunpoint during 2016 Paris Fashion Week. (TMZ was first to report the news on Wednesday, March 26, reporting that the trial is set to start in May.)

“She went through a horrible ordeal and this is giving her the power to fight back,” a source tells Us. “Kim feels the robbery changed her and made her stronger and this is a symptom of that strength.”

In October 2016, five masked men dressed up as police officers forcibly entered Kim’s room at the No Address Hotel in Paris. She was tied up and held at gunpoint as they stole more than $10 million worth of jewelry.

The following year, Kim gave a verbal testimony to police, but didn’t return to Paris until 2018. The case was ordered to trial in 2021 with 12 people charged.

A $4 million ring gifted to Kim by then-husband Kanye West was stolen. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum had showed off the piece of jewelry via social media earlier that day.

Kim got emotional while detailing the robbery during a 2020 appearance on Netflix’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman. At the time, the Skims founder revealed that she and a group of friends were eerily discussing what they would do if they were robbed earlier that same day.

“We had lunch that day and said, ‘If you guys were robbed, what would you do? Would you just give them the stuff?’” she remembered. “Why we had this conversation? It was so wild. I said, ‘I would say take everything, just take everything, nothing is important.’”

When Kim heard “stomping” in her hotel room at around 3 a.m., she assumed it was sister Kourtney Kardashian returning from a club. Upon realizing it wasn’t Kourtney, she felt “immediate panic” wash over her.

“I knew someone was there, like, someone was there to get me. You feel it,” she said, recalling one of the masked men who grabbed her. Kim was wearing a robe without “anything under it” and feared what was coming next.

“I was like, ‘OK, this is the time I’m gonna get raped. Like deal, this is gonna happen, just prepare yourself,’” Kim added. “So, I did and then — I don’t know why I’m crying, I’ve talked about this before — and then he tied me up with handcuffs and zip-ties and then duct tape and duct-taped my mouth and my eyes.”

Kim said she was “really paranoid” for about a year following the incident.

“Besides that little cry session, I’m totally fine,” she said. “I really am. I remember calling all my sisters from the car, we were on a conference call. I’m like, ‘Guys, thank God that was me. I’m very mentally strong and that would have f—ed all of your lives up for the rest of your life.’”
